Ogilvy Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback
Ogilvy is a New York City-based British advertising, marketing, and public relations agency. It was founded in 1850 by Edmund Mather as a London-based agency. In 1964, the firm became known as Ogilvy & Mather after merging with a New York City agency that was founded in 1948 by David Ogilvy. The agency is known for its work with Dove, American Express, and IBM. It is now part of the WPP Group, one
Account Executive (Former Employee) says"Working at Ogilvy was one of the most eye-opening experiences of my life. It taught me what blatant racism in the workplace looks like and feels like. The pay was unlivable, the culture was toxic, and the leadership lacked direction, transparency, and diversity.Weekly happy hourExclusive, predominantly white culture"
Senior Campaign Manager - Global (Former Employee) says"Typical Agency, Number one is the client and the invoice. Very high turnover, on a weekly basis you can see 15 new people / faces coming in. I was based out of London office looking after two accounts (British Airways and British Telecom). Employees never come first, invoice does and hours that you record in your spreadsheet. Management doesn’t look in to the account you look after unless there is an issue. Self-managed roles with no supervisors. Very very very low Morales partly due to the low salary.access to big accounts. building own portfolio working for big agency.salary, long hours, high demand and no reward system for hard work."
Administration Manager (Former Employee) says"O&M a well known ad agency, a place buzzing with noise, all type of people, lots of work, but you can balance your family life, You put in hard work and you get rewarded, Lots of appreciation from superiors, who encourage you to move forward, Ogilvy is a very big brand."
Assistant Account Executive (Current Employee) says"This company has lost its way. Poor management, awful turnaround rates, poor quality of work. Ogilvy needs to reevaluate how employees are treated if they hope to keep their place in the ad world."
Project Manager (Former Employee) says"Invested time, money, and effort into a company I thought was going to have my back only to find out that I had been fed a stack of lies."
OgilvyAction Account Manager (Former Employee) says"The name Ogilvy reads great on your resume and is definitely something you can brag about to friends/family in the business. The downside is that the company knows that--and takes advantage of its employee's as being associated with Ogilvy is a "privilege". The job is 24 hrs a day. You get blamed for everything unless you are a VP. Blame tends to get pushed down to lower positions which-in turn- gets pushed down to lower positions and so on. There are so many middle men that really have no purpose so any change you can bring to the table won't happen for a yr or 2 because it has to get funneled through all the middlemen. The middlemen usually end up claiming your ides as their own if the idea is liked. Their client list is GREAT! However their programs might as well be marketing programs created in the 50's. Not innovative in any way. Their solution to all their tech problem is to "clear your cache's." Coworkers try to make other coworkers look bad in order to make themselves look better. Overall a very unhealthy workplace. If you are truly passionate about marketing programs- go elsewhere as their programs are "safe" and boring.the name "ogilvy" looks great on your resume and the office building is impressiveget taken advantage of."
Project Manager (Former Employee) says"i had a very bad experience in O&M neo and the management were too bad and does not support you. no work life balance and no process of work at at all. My reviews is only for their technology division"
Warehouse and inventory management (Former Employee) says"There are too many things that bothered me to list them all here. But to name a few: most of the people there are very self-important, all decisions are made with little to no regard for your person and/or how possible it is to do. It is not very well organized as a whole. The immediate boss really really wants a sens of camaraderie in the groupMost of the people are superficial"
NY City Manager (Jim Beam Bourbon) says"This company was by far the worse company I have ever worked for. My experience was stressful due to upper managements lack of professionalism, honesty and morality. My experience included being set up to take potential falls for my direct reporting manager who was dishonest, overbearing and unprofessional. I would not recommend this company to anyone who is seeking a peaceful working environment."
Finance Analyst (Former Employee) says"The company is adopting cost cutting culture. They have been merging depts making efforts to save costs. Despite working long hours especially during year end, billing aggressively to boost the revenue numbers. The top management marketed to the employees about finance transformation, it is actually a disguise to let go people. They hire in August to cope with the business demands, despite colleagues staying long hours during year end, delivering, and clearing backlog leftover from the incapability of management pets. Found out some colleagues got extended probation another 3 months, after 6 months in March when work get lesser, the management found another excuse to say these colleagues are not fit to their culture. The actual reason was the company wants to cut jobs and reduce expenses. Promise of a permanent role was not fulfilled. Creative people have tendency to paint rosy images which is not true then disappointment.Free coffeeLong hours"
Digital Producer (Former Employee) says"Lack of best practices and efficiencies plague production. There's inadequate training for the digital side of production that creates a total lack of standards across projects, thus reinvents the wheel for every project and creates a lack of efficiencies, proper understanding of timelines + understanding and respect of roles."
Senior Copywriter (Former Employee) says"The culture suffered because of a poorly managed environment. They have a very old school leadership style that results in stunted career advancement and wasted time.decent client listTerrible Leadership, toxic culture"
Project Manager-Freelance (Former Employee) says"While the work is good, the overall process and department heads cause unnecessary and inefficient problems. There is little opportunity to advance and no training."
Brand Activation Manager (Former Employee) says"Yöneticilerin torpille atandığı, müşterilerin hasta günlerinde tüm ekibe zorla "geçmiş olsun" telefonu açtırmak dışında, ekibinin yaptığı işten habersiz, ofise günde 1.5 saat uğrayan yöneticisi olan, yöneticinin özel hayatını işin önceliklerine galip getiren, garip amatör ve ilkel bir yönetim anlayışıyla yönetilen, müşterisini her an kaybetmek üzere olan bir ajans.Müşterinin sabit olmasıAmatör ve ilkel yönetim tarzı"
Copywriter (Former Employee) says"Totally disorganized and absent management so you sit around for hours with zero to do then are expected to work 10-12 hours toward the end of the day no work/life boundaries keep your free ice cream don’t expect me to answer messages at 3amNice officeNo work/life balance"
Mo Atul says"I worked with Ogilvy while I was working for coca cola. I partnered with them on a project and their level of professionalism is fantastic. Even better is the level of creativity they put into their work is incomparable. Only thing is they need to pay more for their employees in Tanzania. A friend of mine worked for them and he seem to complain how much work he does for them but the end pay is very little."
